Run with Ben !

On 30th September, 2006, I lost my younger brother, Ben after a long and tiring battle with Anorexia and other mental illnesses.

Before Ben had passed away, he expressed his anguish of the orphans in Africa.

Ben researched an organization called Involvement Volunteers Association Incorporated (IVI). After becoming a member and planning to join the organization in Uganda in January 2007, Ben believed he could do more.

Due to Ben’s illnesses, he found much relief and satisfaction from running that helped him survive each day. Ben was a talented athlete, able to run long distances and train with professional athletes.

Ben’s ultimate goal was to raise funds to build an orphanage for the local orphans in Lugazi, Uganda and to do that, he would “Run to Raise Money”.

He had planned to run for 24 hours around The Tan starting at 7.30am on New Years Eve, December 31st 2006. He would continue running till 7.30 am January 1st 2007.

During the 24 hours he hoped to run approximately 200km or as many laps of the 3.8km circuit around The Tan. People could donate in any way – money for each lap, or every km he completed during the 24 hours. Ben would appeal to both individuals and organizations to donate towards this worthy cause.

As we know Ben is sadly no longer with us and so that Ben’s compassionate intentions will live on, my dad is determined to continue Ben’s wishes.

With the donations raised, my dad, Kyran through IVI will personally take all monies to Uganda to help fund some material costs. My father will spend 4 weeks with the IVI Team at the Manjeri Children’s Home to be, within the community, using his skills as a carpenter to teach the local youth basic building skills.

So if you want to help on this project you can send your donation to the following account:

Thank you,

Danielle.
